Counter Strike Global Offensive drops Cross Platform play

One of the big draws following the announcement of Counter Strike Global Offensive was the cross platform feature that would allow PC and console players to face off online, but now that has been dropped from the game according to Joystiq.

“The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC,” Valve’s Chet Faliszek revealed to Joystiq. “To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play — essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them.”

Though it seems like a major loss for the game, I think we can all agree that if its something that will make the game worse then it’s probably a better idea to remove it then as “hamstring” it as Valve has put it.
