Diablo 3 Beta Bug Opens the World

A bug has been found, and quickly closed, that opened up previously unseen parts of the world that Blizzard didn’t intend, the Festering Woods, Drowned Temple and Fields of Misery.

The video below shows the Fields of Misery, it shows a lot more diverse enemies then we have seen so far in the beta as you would expect and gives us a good glimpse of what is to come when the game releases hopefully in the next couple of months.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Update

IGN has put up a commentary video of the latest update to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta which is currently running on PC. The video showcases the new Lake map which they play in Demolition mode.

The graphics seem good and still maintain that classic Counter-Strike look to them. The map features a rather wide area for a Counter-Strike map, with some good areas for sniping but the plant site for the bomb is a close quarters house that will be home to some frantic action.

It is a bit weird I think that you aren’t given money like you normally are in Counter-Strike for kills and wins, instead you start with an M4 or AK47 depending on the side you play and the more kills you get the more weapons you unlock…what is weird though is they seem to be downgraded weapon, going from Assualt Rifles down to pistols?!? It’s a weird design choice but will be interesting to see how it works online.

So check the video out below and see what the new map involves.

Windows 8 Themes preview.

Windows 8 Themes

Do you rock a dual monitor setup on your windows PC? If so you are going to be happy about the features incoming with Windows 8. Highlighted in a recent blog post, the panoramic backgrounds feature in Windows 8 is impressive, if you set up your monitors the same, any image you display will automatically stretch across both monitors.

Another new feature mentioned in the blog is the auto colour feature, this will automatically colour your Windows taskbar to the dominant colour of the background you have displayed. Its a little feature but something that adds to the overall experience of the OS.

IPAD 3 Parts Video.

It would seem those invites that Apple has been sending out could very well be for the unveiling of the IPAD 3.

The good folks over at MICGadget have posted a video of the outer casing of what they claim to be the IPAD 3, if true, it seems to be about the same as the Ipad 2, just with a thicker body, of course whats under the hood is more important, so hopefully we will see it unveiled come the Apple event in a few days time.

Valve to launch console/PC codenamed “Steambox”

Rumors have been circulating that Valve, developers of the Half-Life series as i’m sure you are already aware, are currently developing a gaming platform of their own codenamed “Steambox”.

Now as far fetched as this may seem, it might not be such a bad idea, Alienware has already come out with its X51 console sized PC and with Valve’s access to the library of games available on Steam, the platform could very well be a success.

Why not just use a PC with Steam installed you might ask? Well that is not a bad question, well I personally think that the Steambox, if real, is a shot at taking some of the console community and using them to reinvigorate the ailing PC gaming community. A PC in the shape and size of a console, with console controls running high end PC games and having PC upgradeability? Doesn’t sound half bad to me.

With GDC just around the corner, I guess only time will tell on this one.
