Rumor: More PS4 Details Emerge

According to a report on IGN, sources close to the site say they have information on what the specs of the Playstation 4 will be. According to the sources the PS4 may contain AMD’s A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU, “offering the combined performance of both integrated and discrete graphics processors.”

“The A8-3850 packs a quad-core 2.9GHz processor with an integrated graphics chip. The APU will work in tandem with the system’s dedicated GPU, the HD 7670, a DirectX 11-enabled card clocked to 1GHz with up to 1GB of dedicated VRAM.”

Now as the 3850 has an integrated graphics chip in it, the PS4 could potentially split graphics processing power between its dedicated GPU and the inbuilt graphics of the processor.

I’m beginning to believe some of these stories coming out about both the PS4 and the Xbox 720, to much information has begun to leak out to not be based on fact. Looking at the specs and features of each console, it seems as though both companies are going for boosts in the graphics and processing departments as would be expected from a next-gen system, but also to combat used games and include constant internet connections.

What do you think, do the rumored specs of the Playstation 4 get you excited?

Rumor: Playstation 4 to Launch Before Next Xbox?

According to sources close to VG247, the Playstation 4 will be released before the next Xbox, launching during the christmas 2013 period.

The source stated that Sony “is confident” of getting to the market before Microsoft, this would be smart on Sony’s part, as the Xbox 360 beat the PS3 to the market by a long way, getting a jump in the sales market before the PS3 could even get out the gate.

Other exciting elements that were hinted at by the source were Vita and PS4 connectivity, which was hinted at last week, as well as “Top Line Publishers” close to Sony already having the specs for the new console.

So what do you think? Will Sony get the next iteration of the Playstation to the market before the Xbox, getting that jump they need on sales? Or does this rumor sound like lies to you? Let us know in the comments below, or discuss it in the forum.

Rumor: Playstation 4 Details Emerge?

According to a post on Kotaku, an inside source claims to have information on the next Playstation, apparently codenamed Orbis, the next-gen console is said to be releasing in 2013. According to the source the console will run on an AMD x64 CPU and an AMD Southern Islands GPU.

Another big feature rumored is that the console will not be backwards compatible with the Playstation 3, nor will it support used games, having games registered to a PSN account and therefore not being able to trade in or sell at a later date as they no longer work on someone elses console.

Interesting rumors I must say, though I’m not sure about the used games thing, doesn’t seem like something that would go down to well with retail games companies.
