Well the long rumored answer to Super Smash Bros has finally been confirmed. Sony has released the first trailer and details for PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale.

The game looks to be very similar to Super Smash Bros, with famous icons from the Playstation brand like Kratos appearing in the roster of fighters. The game is a 2D fighter, thought it appears the environments will have an amount of destructibility to them, as well as the background itself coming into play, as you can see in the trailer with Hades from God of War attacking the fighters as they duke it out.

‘God of War IV’ Revealed as ‘God of War: Ascension’

After Sony teased us last week with a picture that was widely speculated to be related to a new God of War game, the reveal has finally come and yes it is a new God of War.

Titled God of War Ascension, not God of War IV as previously speculated, the game appears as though it will be a prequel, from the trailer it seems as though it will tell the story of Kratos from before he was the Ghost of Sparta, tearing a bloody path through ancient Greece.

The game will be released on the Playstation 3. Welcome back Kratos!

Rumor: God Of War 4 Coming?

Oh I really hope this is for God of War 4!

Posted on the Playstation facebook page, the image above teases a reveal on April 19, by the looks of the image and the popular consensus about the image is it could be a reveal for a new God of War.

The colours of the picture do strike a resemblance to those used for previous God of War ad campaigns and vengeance is Kratos’ thing, so it seems like a pretty safe bet right? I hope so.

Kaz Hirai Reveals His ‘One Sony’ Vision

Sony boss, Kaz Hirai has today outlined his vision for Sony moving forward, the base of his idea is “Sony is positioning digital imaging, game and mobile as the three main focus areas of its electronics business and plans to concentrate investment and technology development resources in these areas,” stated Hirai in a press release.

Riding on the back of the PS3 and Vita which are generating a steady profit for Sony, Hirai stated “By growing these three businesses, Sony aims to generate approximately 70 per cent of total sales and 85 per cent of operating income for the entire electronics business from these categories by FY14 [2013/2014].”

In order to keep Sony generating a profit, the bad news is that Sony will be laying off 10000 employees across all divisions.

Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Map Pack Trailer

Sony and Naughty Dog have released a teaser trailer for the soon to be released map pack for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The trailer features looks at The Graveyard map, Oasis Map, London Streets map and Old Quarter map.

The Graveyard map is set amongst the ship graveyard from the story campaign, with destroyed ships and crates rolling in the waves. Old Quarter looks as though there will be a lot of tight urban gameplay, small alleys etc. Whilst Oasis is set amongst a sandy wasteland with a lot of spots to jump around. Lastly the London Streets map is exactly what you would expect, lots of places to hide, back alleys, bars, described by Sony as a good place for a knock-down, drag-out, turf war.

Seems to me as though it’s quite a good assortment of maps in this release.

Rumor: More PS4 Details Emerge

According to a report on IGN, sources close to the site say they have information on what the specs of the Playstation 4 will be. According to the sources the PS4 may contain AMD’s A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU, “offering the combined performance of both integrated and discrete graphics processors.”

“The A8-3850 packs a quad-core 2.9GHz processor with an integrated graphics chip. The APU will work in tandem with the system’s dedicated GPU, the HD 7670, a DirectX 11-enabled card clocked to 1GHz with up to 1GB of dedicated VRAM.”

Now as the 3850 has an integrated graphics chip in it, the PS4 could potentially split graphics processing power between its dedicated GPU and the inbuilt graphics of the processor.

I’m beginning to believe some of these stories coming out about both the PS4 and the Xbox 720, to much information has begun to leak out to not be based on fact. Looking at the specs and features of each console, it seems as though both companies are going for boosts in the graphics and processing departments as would be expected from a next-gen system, but also to combat used games and include constant internet connections.

What do you think, do the rumored specs of the Playstation 4 get you excited?

Rumor: Playstation 4 to Launch Before Next Xbox?

According to sources close to VG247, the Playstation 4 will be released before the next Xbox, launching during the christmas 2013 period.

The source stated that Sony “is confident” of getting to the market before Microsoft, this would be smart on Sony’s part, as the Xbox 360 beat the PS3 to the market by a long way, getting a jump in the sales market before the PS3 could even get out the gate.

Other exciting elements that were hinted at by the source were Vita and PS4 connectivity, which was hinted at last week, as well as “Top Line Publishers” close to Sony already having the specs for the new console.

So what do you think? Will Sony get the next iteration of the Playstation to the market before the Xbox, getting that jump they need on sales? Or does this rumor sound like lies to you? Let us know in the comments below, or discuss it in the forum.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Announced for PS3

LittleBigPlanet Karting!

Do you like LittleBigPlanet and Mario Kart? Well you are going to love this. Sony has announced LittleBigPlanet Karting for the Playstation 3. Judging from the announcement trailer the game looks to feature the creative side of LittleBigPlanet to be used to create your Karts and customize your characters. You can also create your own tracks and I would assume be able to upload them for others to play just as the levels in LittleBigPlanet.

Starhawk to feature splitscreen head-to-head and co op multiplayer

Sony and developer Lightbox have posted a blog over on the Playstation Blog. The post details the games use of Split screen gaming as well as dual login for online play, meaning you can login to your account at a friend’s house and play on their PS3, retaining any experience you earn on your account while playing at a friend’s house.

These modes are in addition to the already robust online multiplayer that is featured in Starhawk and that I wrote about in an earlier post.

Starhawk releases in May.

Mod Tech Top 10 – PS3 Games of 2012

Time for another Mod Tech Top 10, this week I’m ranking my Top 10 most anticipated Playstation 3 games of 2012. Now these aren’t all exclusives I’ll get that out-of-the-way before we begin. Just games that are coming out this year, exclusive or multi-platform

10. Tomb Raider

This reboot is getting some pretty good hype, it’s been a long time since Lara Croft was a force in gaming and with the likes of Uncharted bringing that action/adventure style game back to the forefront of gamers minds, there seems like no better time to update the Tomb Raider brand. The game will tell the origin story of Lara Croft and feature a tighter, more gritty story and pair that with new gameplay to bring an all new experience to Tomb Raider fans.
