Rumor: Next ‘Call of Duty’ To Be Set In The Future?

The Call of Duty website has posted a link to a video on YouTube from the FPSRussia channel, that features a futuristic bit of kit, a Quadrotor, with a machine gun attached to it, it is pretty cool. The host of the show says that the piece of weaponry won’t be available for at least 10 years, continuing to say that though it won’t be around for a while, it may be in the next Call of Duty game. Seems like a pretty big hint from Activision to me.

With the reveal of the game set to be in about a weeks time, we don’t have long to wait until we find out the setting of the game, but signs are pointing to a near-future setting.

What do you think? Where will the next Call of Duty be set? If it is in the future is that a good thing? Let us know in the comments below!

Revealed through the teaser image above, the next Call of Duty is set to be revealed during the NBA Basketball Playoffs on May 1.

Watch The Cinematic From Bethesda’s New Game ‘Dishonored’

You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you, abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

This is the description of the new game from Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studio, debuting the great cinematic trailer you see below. The game seems to be played like a first person Assassin’s Creed, only your Assassin has superpowers. Along with the powers shown in the trailer such as stopping time, you can also teleport and possess creatures in the game world to use to your advantage.

A novel approach to a largely dominated genre, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

15 Minute Look At Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Multiplayer

Inside Gaming has posted up a great 15 minute extended look at the multiplayer mode in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The video looks at the different modes, weapon customization, custom match setup and how important it is to work as a team!

This game is really shaping up to be something unique and fun I think, the customization system is just huge, with millions of different combinations. The focus on team play should drive away the hero types and campers that play Call of Duty, giving players an experience more in the vein of how the designers intended the game to be played.

Graphics wise the game doesn’t blow my mind, but that could be the low quality of Youtube, I will make my final assessment on that when I play the game on my big screen.

The graphics look incredibly good here, with good effects and action, lots of explosions and destruction from what I can see. It seems to definitely be a boost over the original game. Ubisoft Announce Ghost Recon Network and Future Soldier Beta

In a not so surprising move, Ubisoft has today announced they will launch a social website, not that dissimilar to Battlelog and Call of Duty Elite, for the upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The website will have the same features as Battlelog and Elite, with stat tracking and social aspects, you can recieve challenges via iPhone from your friends, customize your weapons and post up your personal weapons for everyone to see. The service looks as though it has been in development a long time, maybe a contributing factor to the games many delays?

Ubisoft also announced there will be a Future Soldier beta running from April 19 through to May 2 and all beta testers will gain early access to the Ghost Recon network to test it out as well as the game.

I think this is a good move from Ubisoft, I am a fan of Battlelog for Battlefield 3 and will be picking up Future Soldier on day 1, if Ghost Recon Network is functioning well, it could be a big boost for the game.

Prototype 2 Trailer Tells You Why You Need Prototype 2

The 11 reasons why you need Prototype 2 in this video seem pretty convincing to me. The game looks to be ultra-violent and full of action, the original was a bit of a letdown in my opinion, so lets hope the sequel fixes the problems of the first and gives up a Triple A game.

I like number 1 personally, which is your favourite?

No New Xbox at E3

In a surprise move, Microsoft have come out in a statement saying that there will be no new Xbox shown at E3 this year. Rumors have been cropping up everywhere that Microsoft were readying their new console for release and a showing at this years E3. Now this could just be a ploy to take attention from Microsoft so they can have a big reveal at the show, or they could just really not have a new Xbox in the works. One that is ready to show off anyway. Guess we will have to wait till E3 for confirmation on this one.
