The Walking Dead: Judge, Jury, Executioner Review

If you haven’t seen the episode yet, please note there will be spoilers.

So wow, I didn’t see that coming at all. The way this episode started out was great, Daryl once again being a badass, torturing information out of Randall was good to see, which was bookended at the end of the episode with how he deals with Dale. However with how Daryl has been lately I do hope that he reverts back to how he was in previous episodes of the season, interacting with the group and not being such an outcast.

Bye Dale.

This episode dealt a lot with Dale and his quest to keep the humanity of the group, he went around to various members of the group pleading his case to keep Randall alive, pure Dale this was, he has always been the voice of reason in the group I think, though some people find him annoying I like the balance that he brings to the group. That is why it was sad to me that he died in this episode, especially after Rick decides not to kill Randall. Dale deserved to have his faith in the group and Rick strengthened by this, instead he gets his guts ripped out.

Now I have to say that Carl is really starting to get on my nerves, I don’t know what it is about TV kids but they are just always incredibly stupid and annoying. I’m not sure what was going on in this kids head in this episode, first he gets way to close to Randall behind everyone’s back, then he steals Daryl’s gun and finds a walker trapped in some mud, this is fine until the walker escapes the mud and attacks him. Now instead of telling everyone at the farm about it, he keeps it a secret, which in turn leads to that same walker coming back at the end of the episode and killing Dale.

Braaaaaains!

The Randall situation still wasn’t resolved in this episode, though the group all agreed that he needed to be taken care of, I knew that Rick is to much of a good man to kill him, especially after Carl turns up when Rick is about to execute Randall and tell him to do it, like some cold-blooded killer. You can tell that Rick is getting worried about how Carl is acting lately, which isn’t surprising as everyone is changing after what they have been through.

I liked this episode, even though it was a bit slow and had Carl being extremely annoying and frustrating, the death of Dale was a shocking moment that struck a chord with me. The moment Daryl took the gun from Ricks hand seeing that he couldn’t put Dale out of his misery was a great moment to end the episode on.

8/10
