Diablo 3 Inferno Difficulty Updated

A blue post on the Diablo 3 forums by Bashiok has revealed that Blizzard has changed the difficulty in the Diablo 3 Inferno mode from a flat level from the beginning to something that gets progressively harder as you progress through the game.

Reasons behind the change were explained as:

  • It just felt wrong. It didn’t feel right to be progressing through the game and have it stay pretty much the same difficulty the whole time. It felt like a letdown to get to the final boss of the game and it be no more difficult than the first.
  • There’s a wide variety of players out there and we wanted to make sure everybody had something to sink their teeth into. We expect that anybody with enough time and dedication will reach level 60.  But the jump in difficulty to Inferno needed to be different amounts for different people.  For the crazy people they need a HUGE ramp in difficulty, for a more “casual but still hardcore” audience you want an obvious but milder increase in difficulty.  So for the crazy people who play non-stop they’ll hit Act I and get a challenge, but 1 month later they’ll still have something to work on (Acts II, III and IV).  For the “hardcore-casual” they will reach level 60 later and not get brick walled when they reach Inferno.  They can experience some “small victories” working on Act I with the dream of maybe someday reaching the later acts.
  • Longevity.  We know people really want goals to work towards and challenges to overcome.  We made Act III and Act IV really, really brutally hard, for the most elite players only.  It felt wrong to make ALL of Inferno that brutally hard.

I think this is a good thing, another example of Blizzard trying to accommodate all gamers, not just the hardcore. A lesson I’m sure they took from World of Warcraft dungeon design.

Diablo 3 releases May 15.

Game of Thrones RPG Trailer Showcases Combat and Story

Narrated by Commander Mormont himself, this new trailer is full of story and killing. It uses the full in-game engine to run the trailer but doesn’t show any gameplay, focusing more on story and drama.

Check it out below.

Check out Jason Statham in ‘Safe’

I love Jason Statham movies, some people, mostly critics, are always whining they are no good, but there is just something about Statham that makes all his movies badass, even when, if they had another actor in them, they would be horrible.

Anyway, Statham is set to star in the upcoming film Safe, he plays a former special agent who gets caught between the Triads and the Russian mafia whilst trying to rescue a young chinese girl. The trailer looks pretty badass, with the patented Statham ass-kicking, set to a nice A Perfect Circle remix.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Introduces Guerilla Mode

The latest Inside Recon dev diary from Ubisoft details a new mode in Future Soldier, Guerilla Mode. The multiplayer game type is a 4 player co-op mode that can be played online, over lan or on split screen.

Guerilla Mode looks to be extremely fun, having you use your tech and stealth skills to take an enemy position and then have to defend that position against 10 waves of enemy soldiers. If you can defend the HQ for 10 waves you move on to take another position and hold for another 10 waves, to win you need to hold for 50 waves all up.

As you move on in the game you get “Streak Bonuses”, airdrops that will give you items for offence or defence such as weapons, turrets or airstrikes. The mode is based on a points system, the more imaginative and coordinated the kills the more points, use the UAV to mark enemies, with every marked enemy more points.

Seems like a really fun and interesting mode, something different to take you out of deathmatch.

Liam Neeson to return as Ra’s Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises

It has been speculated upon for a while now that Liam Neeson would return in Nolan’s final Bat-film as the villian Ra’s Al Ghul, reprising his role from Batman Begins. It would seem that it is now confirmed that he is returning. In the press notes for the upcoming Wrath of the Titans, it states that Neeson can be seen in Battleship and The Dark Knight Rises.

Seeing as though Neeson’s character was killed off in Batman Begins, I would assume that he will be used in flashbacks or some other kind of plot device in the movie.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released in July.

Rumor: Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Info Leak?

The internet is a wonderful thing for rumors, they can take hold without even a shred of truth to them. This seems to be one such rumor, said to be “found” on the internet, this information seems just legit enough to hold some water. We know that Activision is going to push out another Call of Duty this year, they always do, so lets look at the info that has supposedly been leaked.

Game Modes

  • – Escort
  • – Will be a new game mode
  • – Similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed.
  • – The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.
  • – Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return
  • – Team Defender and Infected will not return

New American Reunion Trailer

It seems like it is a guarenteed money maker to leave a franchise for a few years and then bring it back with the original cast, play on that nostalgia factor. This time is American Pie, I was hoping they might make it slightly more adult now that the characters are a long time out of high school but it doesn’t seem that way at all judging from the latest Red Band Trailer. Jim is still getting “it” stuck in stupid places and Stifler is still…Stifler.

Check it out for yourselves after the break.

Rumor: Playstation 4 Details Emerge?

PS4?

According to a post on Kotaku, an inside source claims to have information on the next Playstation, apparently codenamed Orbis, the next-gen console is said to be releasing in 2013. According to the source the console will run on an AMD x64 CPU and an AMD Southern Islands GPU.

Another big feature rumored is that the console will not be backwards compatible with the Playstation 3, nor will it support used games, having games registered to a PSN account and therefore not being able to trade in or sell at a later date as they no longer work on someone elses console.

Interesting rumors I must say, though I’m not sure about the used games thing, doesn’t seem like something that would go down to well with retail games companies.

Total Recall Teaser Features Guns, Explosions, Kate Beckinsale

A teaser trailer for the remake of Total Recall has hit the net, its a teaser for a trailer that will be released on the weekend. We get sneak peaks at some flying cars, explosions, guns and my favourite of all, Kate Beckinsale. I wasn’t going to see this until I saw Kate Beckinsale in it, guess I’ll be at the movies day 1 now.

See it in action after the break.

Battlefield 3 Patch Live for PS3

A massive patch is now live for Battlefield 3. Clocking in at around 1GB, the patch has a list of fixes and additions. The most interesting feature in the new patch is the rent a server, for a fee players can rent their own private server to completely customize their games. Cost range from $1.49 for a day up to $64.99 for 90 days. The competitive arena in Battlefield 3 just got a bit more interesting.

One thing about the patch is if you have the Back to Karkand expansion pack, you will need to reinstall the expansion after you patch Battlefield 3.
